The normal billet size is nominal 150/160mm dia x 600mm long weight around 100Kg.

The standard extruded tube size was 60mm OD x 5mm wall. The press was primarily used for the manufacture of condenser tubing and also profiles in a variety of brass alloys. Max extruded length 18m. Approx output 40/60 pushes per hour dependant on shape

The press was completely rebuilt in 1993 by Skoda with new pumps, electrics and mechanical. The original manufacturer was Demag in 1973.  There is an induction billet heater with 3 coils and 2 heating zones. There is a hot saw, platen mounted, a vertical shear and pressure pad/discard handling conveyor. There is also a DC controlled puller.  The cooling tables are of the notched rack walking beam type and can hold up to 43 extrusions at  a time. In addition to the main oil tank above the press there is also a auxiliary 10,000 l tank in the pump room

The pumps are by Rexroth/Bruninghaus variable and fixed of 480l/min output each driven by 200Hp motors. The pumps are all mounted in a separate room adjacent to the press line.

After cutting to length there is an automatic weigh station with print out in a separate room to the side of the press line.

The press is controlled by a Siemens S5 PLC

There are 5 spares containers + one in the press and a large spares inventory. All original drawings are available

Although the press is no longer in daily production, with some notice, the owners are willing to re-start and for it to extrude billets for demonstration purposes.
